THE LAST SECOND
VIA: Posted to Lava's Wordpress blog.
I've said it before and I'll say it again,
I'll never let anyone work harder than me.
And by the exact same measure, I'll never let anyone put up the illusion,
That they're working harder than me either.
Weston Alexander.
The supposed smartest man in MetroPro.
A man who has done nothing to promote our match.
Nothing, that is, until the final moments of this week,
When suddenly he decided that he had something to say.
Too little, too late Weston.
It's me that the fans are coming to see.
It's me who's made this match the attraction of the night.
It's me who's become the talk of not just the tournament,
Of not just MetroPro,
But of the wrestling world.
It took me a week to start a spreading fire,
And I haven't even stepped into a ring on camera yet.
We're teammates, Weston.
This didn't have to get personal.
But the fact that you felt that you could disregard me the way that you have,
The fact that you've obviously felt that I'm beneath your respect,
Well, you've changed the game, Alexander.
Now I'm looking forward to busting you up.
You know, for a genius, you're actually pretty stupid.
You seem to think that you're key to victory in our fight,
Is some lack of focus on my part.
A stat you clearly gleaned from my MetroPro bio.
It's true, at the combine, I scored very low in MetroPRO's 'Focus' category.
It is absolutely the weakest part of my game.
However, you seem to have failed to read up on how MetroPro defines 'Focus',
Because it has absolutely NOTHING to do with my ability to focus on you, Alexander,
But rather it's a measure of my ability to focus on other elements.
It's a measure of my ability to focus on anything BUT you.
In other words, it means the exact opposite of what you're implying it does.
So unless you plan on bringing a friend down to the ring with you, Alexander,
It's a complete and utter non-factor, as I have already pointed out.
What is a factor though, Weston,
Is your complete lack of any power behind your flawless technique.
Which translates to a total inability to finish a fight, except of course via a submission.
But you and I have already agreed that our submission skills,
Both absolutely world class, effectively cancel each other out.
So what are you going to do, Weston?
I'll tell you. You're going to lose.
Because sometimes Weston, being smart isn't enough.
All the 'book learning' in the world ain't going to help you,
Not against someone faster, stronger and who hits way, way harder.
You tried to be sneaky, but it's not your strong suit either.
You've got no tricks left and you're out of time.
You can talk about what you want as much as you want to.
Which, judging by your output isn't really very much at all.
But the fact of the matter is that nobody wants this more than I do,
And as I've established, no one is going to work harder than me to get it either.
Especially not you, obviously.
My name is Lava.
I was going to beat you when I respected you.
But for your little bit of talk to the contrary,
It's obvious to everyone that you're selling me short,
And that you've felt all week that I was beneath your attention.
I assure you, if ever we face each other again,
You will have a different attitude the next time.
I'll promise you that.
Because a lot of fighter might make your mistake,
And disrespect me or doubt my ability before we step into that ring.
But I promise you no one will make that mistake a second time.
No one will doubt me after they've faced me.
You just get to be the first to learn that, Weston.
That's right.
This scrappy little warrior with drive like no one else in the sport,
Is about to teach the smartest man in MetroPro a lesson.
Count on it.
