Morgan le Faye, top hat firmly on her head, stands in the center of green field, a backyard as evidenced by the patio furniture just off to the side. Instead of a table, Morgan holds two silver rings, one in each hand, held in her palms. As always, Morgan smiles before giving a bow in greeting.
“Welcome back, my lovelies, to yet another round of magic with the one and only Miss Morgan le Faye, Mistress of Magic! Last time you saw me, I showed you all a clever trick with cards. Have you figured out how I did it? If so, keep it to yourself! I’ll never tell! I’m sure I left you all hungry for another trick, and I do hate to disappoint, so here we go. I call this trick ‘The Trusting Partners’.”
Morgan holds the rings out in front of her, spinning them slowly to show that they are solid silver loops with no breaks like a keyring would have.
“In my left hand, you have Anya, in my right hand is Allyana. Separate. Word on the street is, there was something of a rivalry between them, and like any good rivalry, differences were set aside for the greater good. Inspiring stuff. Notice how both Anya and Allyana the Rings when apart are much more mobile. See how they easily roll around my arm without the slightest interference?”
Morgan spins the rings in a loop on her arms, they easily rotate.
“But now, the two have come together. They’ve become partners. They’ve linked up. Formed a chain.”
As soon as Morgan finishes speaking she brings her arms together, claps, and the rings are not connected to one another. Morgan tries to pull them apart, but they form a small chain.
“And suddenly they’re bogged down. You try to pull them apart and they resist. One pulls to one side, one pulls to the other, and you’re left with something that’s not as good as they are individually. Yes, it’s certainly impressive how two singular loops came together, but instead of being able to do their own thing, now they are bound together for better or for worse. What happens to one must also happen to the other. And worst of all, they get in the way of one another.”
Morgan demonstrates by trying to spin one ring around her arm. The second ring makes this a difficult task, slamming into the other and causing all momentum to stop.
“This is what happens when you put too much emphasis on trust. Trust is all well and good, but it’s ultimately a burden if you rely on it too much. It’s impressive at first, especially when it comes from an antagonistic past, but total trust is more of a hindrance than an advantage. What you need, is just enough trust to know that your partner won’t get in your way, and in return you’ll do the same. You work together for a common goal, nothing more. Because this is what happens when the Trusting Partners meet the Common Goal Allies.”
Sliding down Morgan’s right arm, from under her sleeve, is a third ring followed by a fourth. Morgan tosses the rings upward then pulls the linked rings apart as far possible. The rings fall through the chain, the third one links with the chain for a moment before the fourth comes downward and hits the chain, splitting the chain back into individual rings. Morgan catches the rings before they hit the ground, she now has four individual rings, one around each arm, and one in her hands.
“The trust is broken by an outside source. Working together for a common goal: Break the Trust. You’ll notice how the two individual rings were stronger than the chain, how easily they broke through the supposed bond of trust. Because I and Dennis are free of the burden of bonds, we’re free to break through that power of trust you two hold so dear. I trust Dennis inasmuch as I know that he’ll be there to make the tag, and that’s all I need. Like the individual rings, we’re stronger when we’re left to do our own thing. And that’s something you’ll come to understand. Because after all…”
Morgan tosses two rings upwards then catches them, creating a chain of four connected rings.
“A chain is only as strong as its weakest link…that being trust.”
Morgan holds the chain in one hand, then slices through with her other hand, breaking the chain, letting two rings fall while holding onto the final, individual rings.
"ZVARRI! Magic!”
Morgan gives another farewell bow as the magic display comes again to a close.
