The stunning New York skyline sat ahead of William Levon, as he stared out at the horizon ahead of him from the balcony adjoined to the apartment he now resided in. His eyes narrowed as he just muttered to himself.
I guess I can start to understand why Priscilla is so proud to be from here...
He shrugged his shoulders and turned to the camera that sat just to the side of him.
As the guy who has perhaps undertaken the most unlucky and unfortunate journey in this game, how do I present myself to the world right now? Well, I'll take the optimistic route.
Sure, some might write me off straight away. The look at me and realize I'm not your typical fighter and if anything, I'm just the underdog. Brilliant. I'll take it. Because that just means that more people are underestimating me - I embrace that. It makes it even sweeter when I swoop in and take advantage of that.
Regardless of how things have gone for me in the past, I have still achieved enough in my own right. I have proven myself to be a viable athlete. Since the world last saw me, I haven't given up & quit as expected - I've fought harder, just out of the spotlight. In that time, I've ensured that I become stronger & faster, with an improved technique & stronger submission holds. I've essentially ensured that I become an all-rounder and covered all bases. I've dedicated my life to this business so I've learned a lot over that time to the point where sure, I still make mistakes but I'm only human... I still know what I'm doing. I like to think I've just been unlucky...
... not as though I'm making excuses at all, that's just how it is.
A light sigh escaped his lips but not one based off of frustration.
And at least I can safely say that this time, I have no distractions like I have in the past. This time, it's about me and my career, not me having to protect an unappreciative girlfriend. I'm a smart guy, if nothing else, so I can learn from previous mistakes.
So of course, I can't just let the world overlook this fight. There's so much on the line and as far as I can tell, there is one hell of a range of impressive athletes in this match... we're four of the best out there but we all bring something new to the table. That is why this is a match that you won't want to miss.
After all, Ravyn Nightshade is a name that people remember and when she's concentrating, she's a force to be reckoned with, as is Priscilla Price. Gideon Hazard is a man I honestly don't know much about but one thing I have gathered is his distinct lack of focus. After all, zoning in one just one or two opponents as opposed to all of them is a dangerous game to play. He's likely shrugging me off and that's fine but the last guy who did just that, I defeated to become the top champion of a company; just saying. And that's not the first time I've made history. I'll be honored to do the same here by becoming the first Metro:PRO Empire Champion... although being the only 'good guy' in contention - in this tournament round at least - is confusing but let's roll with it.
Will shrugged his shoulders but continued.
And on top of it all, Priscilla is going to share that ring with me, a woman I have history with - call me crazy but something makes me want to accept that offer she's thrown my way. I think it's time we talked things through - good, or otherwise. But you're definitely right in saying that no matter what, we'll both mean business when that bell rings. After all, there's too much on the line to lose focus already. No matter what the result, I'll at least show that I'm not the pushover or 'whiny bitch' I once was. I've grown and now, I've learned to use all of my strengths, such as my speed, aerial techniques & intelligence to my advantage.
I mean business and I'm actually going to surprise the world. I'm more than capable this week. I mean, I'll be able to outrun my opponents with my speed and hit 'em with moves they won't even see coming. I understand that certain people in this match do indeed have more years in this business than even me so we'll show the world precisely why experience in this industry in terms of duration but also in high pressure situations like this is that damn important...
With that, his voice trailed off into silence and he punctuated the sentence with a nod of his head.
