The sound of a door opening echoes throughout Purple Hayes Gym. It’s dark and the vague figure of a rather large man exits the moonlight and into the gym. The camera begins to approach him as he takes in a deep breath.
“This place has a unique smell to it, the type of smell that comes along when horrible things are done to people.”
The man was Kodi Jackson, he looked around the empty arena and made his way over to where the ring is – taking a sit on the edge of it.
“I had Metro fly me all the way out to Washington because I wanted to see where it happen… I wanted to see where The Untouchables made Mort Goodman their little bitch! Where my mentor Dakota Smith humiliated and violated my new boss. It’s a fantastic story really, I wish I could have been there. But what Ultimately lead me to taking this trip is that one of my three opponents happen to be Mort Goodman’s daughter. Hello Grace, you don’t know me. But I've done my homework on you. And may I say bravo – you have quite the list of accomplishments for only being in the business seven months. You've beaten the best of the best that IWA had to offer and now here you are in Metro hoping to do the same.
Well I’m here to tell you that it’s just not gonna’ happen little lady. You had your time in the sun, it’s time to step aside and let someone with a bigger shadow to take control. It’s no secret that you were put in this match to be a human rag doll to us Sunshine folks. But as I stated before I’ve done my homework, I know that you love to be the underdog. In fact I think you take some sort of comfort in it. Because then all you can do is burst open people’s expectations, the pressure is always there so you always have to be on your toes. But I ask you this Grace, why are you even in the empire tournament? I’m sure your father does not approve, but then again maybe you are tired of doing what daddy says. Maybe your time in the ring has made you realize that his outdated ways are just not what is best for this industry, and it’s certainly not what’s best for Grace Taylor.”
Kodi lifts himself up and off of the ring and down onto the ground. The heavy stomp of his feet echoing throughout the gym. He walks over a ways and comes upon a chair, it has tape on the arms of it that have been cut. He looks up into the camera for a moment with a shit-eating grin on his face before taking a seat in the chair.
“From my recollection this is the exact spot where Daddy got beat bloody and then pissed on! Does it make you feel anything Grace? Seeing me here… I doubt that it does because I doubt that you think much of anything about me. But lets break down the facts shall we?
When it comes to in-ring strength there is no contest, you are an ant and I am the foot that accidentally crushes you. But not only am I stronger than you but I’m also hit a whole hell of a lot harder. Sure you may have your speed and acrobatics…But let’s be fucking reasonable here – I’m not built for such things. No I’m more of the tank that can dish out damage just as well as it can take it!
Now I’m not going to lie, while I have been in this business longer. You definitely have had more big match experience. So maybe there is an edge there, because who knows… I could slip up and you’d take full advantage! But the scary part is… I’m not even the one who has to slip up. It could be either of the two men I will be addressing at a later time. I guess that is just the way the cookie crumbles… Not only do I have to make sure I don’t lose. I have to make sure no one else loses before I win…
So Grace, when it comes down to it. I just think you are going to be too distracted to even think about winning this match. You may like the pressure, but this time.. It’s more than you can handle. Where’s your head at Grace?
Oh… And tell Carter that I give him my best.”
Kodi gives the camera a wink as the camera cuts out with static.
