I regret to inform everyone that in a few moments, I'll be posting our last show. There are several reasons for this, and as I am you've heard them all before, so I won't bore you with details, but just touch upon a few:
1. I am drained at the moment. Damn, it's a full-time job doing a weekly show. I have no idea how the hell Davey, or anyone else who has done week shows, keep up. Thought I could do it. I can't. It's sucking almost all of my weekend, and it's starting to impact my home life. It hasn't helped that work has been extremely busy for me, as it usually is this year (blame divorced parents fighting over holiday time with their kids) which has not allowed me to spread the fed work out during the week as much as I would have liked.
Perhaps I need a reboot. Perhaps I need to take a few weeks off to reinvent something fresh to be part of in the game (more on that below); but right now, I just can't do it.
2. People (myself included) seem to not be loving it. I've had several handlers approach me and tell me they are feeling burnt out, lost, without direction, and generally not feeling it. This includes many people who were very active in IWA. I don't blame them, and I consider myself one of them. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
This isn't to say that everyone has been feeling the burn. The activity, both on the boards and in private messages, from many of you (you know who you are) has been awesome, and I thank you for that. I can only hope I get that level of excitement back as soon as possible, as this game has consumed me for the last eight months.
3. Davey and I are Working on Something That Will Hopefully Be Special. Without going into details, Davey and I have been brainstorming over the course of the last several days about a new fed that, to be candid, will not be for everyone here, but for those that dig it-- if it is properly executed-- they should really dig it. It's ambitious in scope and is going to take a significant amount of planning. The good thing, however, is once it is up and running, it should not be as taxing on us as handlers, as the plan will be for Davey and I to alternate running shows on a weekly basis-- so for the handlers, it can be a weekly experience, but for those behind the scenes, it will require a bi-weekly workload. We don't have a launch date yet, but it will certainly be after the holidays, which will give me time to catch up on work, sleep, and time with my family, as well as devote time to brainstorming ideas with Davey.
I don't have many details yet, except to say that it will be an angle fed, very expansive in scope, set in a well-defined community with many, many side characters that you can incorporate into your character's stories. It's gonna be a completely different experience from Metro; we've got a lot of cool ideas in mind for this, and I am looking forward to putting it together.
Again, I apologize that I couldn't keep it going. This was my first crack at running a fed, and I did the best I could. I've got mad respect for anyone who keeps it going longer than a week.
Anyway, it's been fun playing with everyone. I'm sure I'll see everyone around, whether it's on Twitter, AIM, in another fed, or in the fed that Davey that we ultimately launch. If not, good luck to everyone.
