The scene opened to show Allyana and her mother in a large department store. Mama Rivera looked much more excited by it all than her daughter.
"This amazing, mija! Let go to look at make-up."
Allyana followed her mother to the make-up department. It only took them a few minutes. Mama looked much more plain than usual, it wasn’t like her to be out without her face all done up.
"Oh Chanel!"
She started to play around with some of the testers, suddenly it was clear why she had come without any on.
“Mama you can’t do that!”
“Pfft, of course I can! They testers, I test.”
Allyana looked around her, embarrassed by her mother’s all too familiar antics.
“Stop worrying about me! Think about match!”
“I have been, I haven’t really thought about anything else.”
Mama continued to apply her chosen foundation, making no eye contact with her daughter.
“It’s a tough one this week, I really feel for Angelina. I know she just wants to do well, but that desperation is driving her to do things that seem pretty out of character for her. I just think she’s lost.”
“She no lost, mija! She just cheater! She know exactly what she do!”
Allyana looked conflicted.
“I don’t think so Mama. She must be confused. As far as her company profile goes she trained for two years and two months, but then she tried to tell everyone it had been ‘nearly three years’.”
Mama Rivera just exhaled in disapproval.
“If that nearly three years, I nearly forty.”
Allyana just smiled and shook her head.
“Whether it’s intentional or not, she seems to like to embellish the truth. Then I see her make a comment like, "When Priscilla and I win? I will finally get the foothold I need to succeed here in Metro”. 'When'? She doesn't know that. When it comes to her I’m really struggling to believe it is anything other than braggadocio from Angelina.
She over sold her training, I’m assuming it’s because her actual competitive experience is lacking. Granted Anya and I are still regarded as rookies, but we still have more experience than her in real, title seeking competition. We've both had experience with important title opportunities; I went on to win one. Her stats say she should handle this well, but her actions so far have shown she cracks under the pressure of needing to do well, resorting to desperate methods."
Mama Rivera nodded enthusiastically to Allyana and moved along to use some more testers for her eye make-up.
“It be Priscilla who is bad influence, I see her face when it happened, she love it.”
“Yeah Priscilla does seem to be getting Angelina around to her way of thinking, but she is still conflicted. Those extra few seconds she’ll take in the ring thinking about what approach she wants to take? Anya and I will capitalise on them. We have the speed, agility and in-ring intelligence to do so.
I know Priscilla talked about a match Anya and I had months ago, but there was one key difference – we were going up against each other in competition for one singles title. We were both aware of that and it was always going to be competitive. Now? We’re on the same team and have the same goal – the Tag Team Titles. Having known each other all that time we work together as a team tremendously, we’re in sync. The same can’t be said for Priscilla and Angelina; not when they have such different philosophies on how to win a match."
Mama only had to add the finishing touches to her face. She smiled into the mirror in front of her, clearly please with the job she had done.
“How wonderful! Free make-over! I saw Angelina talked to Jack?”
“Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me either. Why take advice from a man who, despite all the cheating, has a pretty poor record. That will just be detrimental to her.”
“Don’t you worry about that. She want to destroy her talent, that up to her.”
Just at that moment a shop assistant approached the pair.
“Excuse me? You can’t do that.”
“I just using the testers? If it no allowed then why you have them?”
“It’s to test our product, if you like it you then buy them.”
Mama shook her head and feigned a dissatisfied look.
Mama Rivera: “They no very good, I think I look somewhere else.”
With that Mama grabbed Allyana by the arm and ushered her out the store, while the young wrestler covered her face in shame.
"I think I going to love New York, mija."
The scene faded to black.
