“I guess I should thank Weston for his gifts, but there was really no need. I’m not saying that out of politeness, I genuinely mean I have no need for them."
Grace rummages around in front of her before pulling out a gift of her own. Grace holds up a book to the camera, the title reads – ‘How To Make Friends and Speak to People’
"Stupid title, I know, but this one Weston could definitely use. I’ll read you a few of my favorite tips.
Grace grins to the camera with a cheeky glint in her eye, and then begins to quote from the book.
“When approaching someone new, it is always a good idea to learn something about them if possible. It makes for a great conversation opener and shows them you have an interest.”
She turns back to the camera.
"Weston really didn't learn much about me. Submission defense for dummies? What would be ‘dumb’ would be me trying to compete with him when it comes to submission. I'm not about to try and beat a man at his own game. I've finished three of my matches by submission in my career so far, with good reason. We'll take the first as an example; it was against Travis Black for the IWA World Championship. His aerial technique was one of the best on the roster; I knew I'd have to take a different approach. The best way was to strike where he was weak - submission. I did that and Travis didn't have an answer for it. It's the same when I use my aerial abilities. When an opponent isn't good in the air – like Weston - that's where I'll be. I pay very close attention to my opponents, I know their strategies and I always look to have a way to counter them."
Grace reads her next quote.
'Don’t set yourself unattainable goals. All this will serve to do is disappoint you, leaving you disheartened and creating a negative energy around you.'
"We all know Weston’s game plan - it’s always the same. He hasn't for a second considered having a back-up plan, which is just naive. You can be the smartest man in the world and know everything there is to know, but until you put it into practice it doesn't mean anything. It didn't work with Lava and he had nothing to fall back on, so it ended in a count out. When I come hurtling towards him he’s not going to be able to just turn that into a submission move. He seems to believe otherwise. If he were taller, and a hell of a lot stronger I’d maybe buy into that. He’s not big and tall enough to stay standing, and he’s certainly not strong enough to catch me. He’ll hit the ground just like most people allowing me to make the pin.
Speaking of being negative. I've heard his pessimism about my speed. Of course he’s going to claim it’s not going to give me an advantage when he’s as slow as molasses in January. If I’d made mistakes from it, if it had cost me matches or even held me back I’d see his point. None of that’s true, so to me it’s invalid. I know I have to be bringing my A-game on Sunday, with his in-ring intelligence and technique he’s going to be a challenge. Fortunately I have the focus to do that, I never miss my mark."
Another quote from Grace.
'Never come across as desperate to a new acquaintance, it will not be received well. They’ll leave and you’ll be left obsessing over what went wrong, resulting in all you have learned escaping from you.'
"Weston was initially placed in the Pure Wrestling Championship tournament. My daddy told him he ‘was the embodiment of his vision: pure wrestling’. He believed he and Lava were the two best people to put forward – Weston failed. So now here he is, claiming that this is now what he wants – the Empire Wrestling Championship. That’s not an intellectual man, it’s a desperate one. Desperate men don't operate at the best of their abilities. His head can’t possibly be in this 100%, not when two weeks ago he was sure he was going to be the Pure Wrestling Champion. Now he’s so confident he’ll win this, he’s giving out title matches. Who knows? Maybe by Sunday Marty will dangle that Mat Maestro Trophy in front of him and he’ll change what he wants yet again.
This is a great book for him, I'm gonna go read it some more."
Grace smiles and winks at the camera.
