A smile rested comfortably on the lips of Anya-Leigh Castello. In fact, it was rare for her not to be smiling or at least in an upbeat and positive mood. Sitting backstage just on a random table, she swung her legs out in front of her and slowly, she tilted her head to one side.
It's fun to reminisce. Priscilla seems adamant on driving a wedge between either myself and Allyana or myself and Jace. Either way, she will fail greatly. And Priscilla, you seem to be taking great pride in bragging about supposedly 'rolling around with Jace' but honey, if anything, he just took pity on you. Either that or he decided to train alongside you for the greater good... he wanted a win. And that is all I will say on that matter. In terms of the relationship between myself and Allyana, we are on top of the world. We are great friends, who once had a small friendly rivalry. There's nothing wrong with that. The level of teamwork we've essentially perfected in the space of just weeks is outstanding and we will continue to show why our experience as a team will outshine yours.
While it's true that we each just have one tag team victory together as teams, but it's clear we've all learned a lot in that time. Our experience as solo athletes may not quite live up to that of the opposition but as a team and as friends? Then we've got the edge and frankly, the experience that matters. We know each other better than you two ever could. My goal once was the Women's Championship back in Force 1. Now, our goal is the Metro:PRO Tag Team Championships because that is something we can share. What is so difficult to understand? We're able to progress as not only athletes but as people... over the months, we've learned that we are capable of adapting to the tag team life. That means we can still be selfish and fight for what we want, but we do that together. I'm sure that's something neither of you can really understand.
After all, Allyana is probably the smartest woman on the roster, whereas I am one of the fastest. We each excel with these qualities. The opposition? Priscilla is notorious for being the sneakiest... but how will she fair with implementing that if she's going up against the smartest? Can Priscilla really break down the intelligence of Miss Rivera? And even yours truly is not an idiot... I know what to look out for so sorry to break it to you, but your main strength just simply won't work against a team with this level of intelligence. And Angel? Well, she's not perfected any core skill in this business. No. She doesn't have anything that makes her particularly stand out. A shame, that.
I have trained with some of the best and crafted my key skills. We all have certain qualities we've opted to focus on more... for me, it's speed, agility and the mental edge a competitor requires. Allyana has done precisely the same and this is why we make for a formidable team. Focus and composure are two of Double A's stand-out qualities. We share many great qualities, actually. Whereas Priscilla and Angelina seem to be polar opposites in terms of not only in-ring skills but also as people. They say opposites attract but not in this instance. When you're gunning for tag gold, you have to get along and you have to understand precisely how the other works.
I can't deny that submission techniques are important but it's not the only thing that can win a match. If you're so sure you can lock in a hold on me, Priscilla, feel free to try. But Allyana will be there to watch by back if it does so happen to reach that point... but are you smart enough to lock in that Triangle Choke in the first place?
She left the rhetorical question there as a light smile appeared on her lips again.
Myself and Allyana are high-flyers and we're all for taking risks. Plus, we never quit. So whilst you're desperately attempting to lock in holds on us, we'll be too fast for you to catch. We will outrun every move you make.
It's clear we're being overlooked here and that's a mighty shame. But what else would I expect? Priscilla and Angelina are not quite the kind of people to offer any sort of respect, nor are they smart enough to realize what they are up against. And don't get me wrong, the past does mean a lot. But if that's all your focused on, you won't get far...
Her voice trailed off into silence as she turned away from the camera.
