The New York skyline was seen by William Levon as he stared out onto it from the banks of the East River. He ignored the camera initially - continuing to stare ahead of himself.
It's easy enough to claim that you have heart. It's easy enough to claim that you have passion. It's enough to make claim after claim after claim about who you are what you stand for. What sets people who do this apart is the way in which they actually backup those claims. In those respects, myself and Lava are at a stalemate. We can hardly state that the other has not lived up to their own expectations yet but given we have only both participated in one match, that's not really a viable sample to judge. However, the point is that one of us is yet to slip up or make any crucial mistakes in the short time we have been with this company.
Lava did understandably pick up on the fact that after becoming the first ever IWA Champion, I lost the title one week later and as embarrassing as that is, I've made my peace with it. After all, had that not happened, I may not have learned to fight harder - I might still be just getting by on hoping for the best as opposed to realizing what needed to be done to become a greater athlete, not just one who was 'average at best'. I wasn't ready to be in a position such as that at the time - that's why I'm glad it happened. You learn from such mistakes. I am aware that this did happen - it's a fact and it's in the history books. But it's not one you can use against me at this point. I don't see it as a negative or anything to be ashamed of. In fact, it shows that I'm capable of making history - no matter what the circumstance.
He finally turned to the camera.
I'm not one to make excuses - but whilst Lava can attempt to use these as negatives, I see them as being otherwise. After all, without Alice Autumn fucking with my career and without the losses I suffered, I wouldn't have bothered to improve the qualities that it was clear that I lacked at the time. Since my time away - which FYI was not 'running away' from a bad situation - I have endeavored to boost such qualities as strength, power, focus & stamina. I saw that these were what held me back at the time so I discovered the problems and ultimately fixed them. Therefore, it would be incorrect to state what I failed with in the past - I know and that's why I've rectified the issues that once stood in my way. I noticed that whilst I pride myself on flying-high, that was not sufficient to rely on solely - thus I worked on getting physically stronger. I noticed that I was not able to handle high-pressure situations - thus I've learned to focus on what matters most and how to avoid outside distractions; becoming mentally stronger.
That's why I claim to be the new & improved William Levon - the guy who learned from his prior failings and is now greater for it. The past essentially shaped who I am today and that's a cliche - sure - but it's one I stick by.
And while myself & Lava share more than enough qualities, I'm aware that she is generally more vicious in her approach than I am. While that is true, that doesn't mean I can't be as well - and if last week is anything to go by, I'll show this week again that I am a quick-thinker. I 'stole' the win because I outsmarted the others. Those are two qualities I am sorely under-rated for. But that's okay. It's better to exceed expectations than fail to reach them - so if they're initially low, there's more scope for success. Plus, I still strongly believe a pinfall victory in a Fatal Fourway is more impressive than a count-out victory over one guy. I had to outsmart three others to rack up the win - much like she outsmarted Weston. I had others to watch out for - yet I still thrived. I did something that was perhaps not expected - this week will be the same. I'm happy to get by as the underdog as the more I win, the more impressive I look.
And I sincerely hope Lava doesn't forget that my one of my finishing manoeuvres is a submission hold - which goes to show I have the skills. She may be great at applying said holds herself and even battling out of them but if I lock that move in, then it could all be over. The submission specialist tapping out to a high-flier - wouldn't that be a sight to see?
