I'm not an idiot. I'm even statistically known as a smart guy - take that however they want. Book smart, street smart - or even ring smart. On this occasion, we'll discuss the latter as it's relevant and the type of intelligence that I possess in higher levels than the others. I'm a veteran of this game but I may not always 'talk the talk' but at least so far, I've been able to back everything up with actions. One match isn't much but it's enough. This week, I'll show that wasn't a fluke victory. Even if I'm subjected to a loss by a woman who's only real skill is implementing submission holds, then I'll still look strong regardless by giving her the fight of her life.
Of course that means I'm up against another tough challenge - not as though I believed I'd be up against an easy challenge, if there's such a thing. But according to my opponent this week, I simply get by on luck in my career. An interesting belief. I personally believe I've got the talent to back it all up. After all, I've lasted in this business for this long because I have talent in various domains - if I was simply 'lucky', I wouldn't have lasted seven years.
So while many of her beliefs about me are a little misguided, Lava is a fighter. She's a woman who is entirely immersed into the industry and has her mind on in-ring perfection above all else. However, Lava, you seem to overlook the fact that I do respect the fact you have mastered a core skill, I've said this enough. I cannot take away from your incredible talents & passion for the business - that includes respect I have for your win last week. I'm not belittling it by any means - I just don't see it being as strong as it should have been. After all, perhaps that isn't due to your intelligence - it is down to Weston's lack of focus? Did you take into consideration that he was incapable of handling the 'cunning moves' you pulled on him?
Statistically, he's the smartest man on the roster - that goes to show just how well you did to outsmart the man. But perhaps there were outside factors stopping the man from reaching his full potential - other than you. Who knows what the poor man was going through? But I digress. Ultimately, your win was a win but we'll forever disagree on who's victory was more decisive out of you and I.
I don't mean to rant on about the past too much. What's more important is the future and it's abundantly clear that we both have a lot to offer. There's no doubt in my mind that we'll both get far in this company - I'm sure there's gold out there for both of us. This match is about showcasing the greatest talent that Metro:PRO has to offer and that means we could steal the show.
It'll come down to what's more important in a match like this - submission techniques or a combination of speed & technical mat wrestling? After all, matches can be won without the need for submission. But if submission is all you have - is it enough? Quick answer - no. Plus, when you have as much experience as I do, you learn to avoid such submission moves being applied in the first place.
I may not have the greatest record in history but that doesn't mean I haven't learned anything in that time. Losses help a person grow and I'm now at the point I can safely say that as opposed to focusing on where I'll ultimately fail, I focus on what needs to be done in order to succeed. And what are those? To cut down Lava's closed-minded approach to a match against a guy like me. I'm not at all claiming she lacks focus. I simply say that from a statistical stand-point - you could perhaps be easily distracted in a match by other factors. I'm basing this off the facts we have, other than the opinion you hold so it's hardly a crazy accusation. The reality of it is that anything can happen in the world of wrestling - this is where I shine, Lava. This isn't MMA, so you have to adapt to what this business is all about - unpredictability. You have to expect the unexpected and due to my experience, I'm able to. Your lack of experience against an athlete like me will show - you won't know how to handle the kind of moves I've perfected.
So you can talk down my skills all you wants and you can even claim in the future that speed and agility don't mean shit... but I'll be more than happy to show you just how important those skills really are.
