Note: This is from Holli's POV
She's smiling as she leaves his apartment. Dressed in an flowing pleated skirt under a knitted poncho of fuchsia she feels as though a piece of her has returned.
There Is however a lingering feeling of fear for him. She doesn't dare try to address his addictions, not yet. She wasn't exactly one to talk about vices considering the baggie currently still in her purse.
She walks toward the subway entrance when someone grabs her shoulder and spins her around. Her brow furrows in confusion when she sees who it is.
"Holli...." Jason Daniels is standing in front of her. He looks as handsome as ever and there is a tiny part of her stomach that flutters at the memories of the few good times they'd shared. Looking into his eyes though, she could see something else in their depths. Rage, jealousy and best of all fear.
She shrugs away from him. "Go away Jason, wasn't that first ball shot enough of a hint?"
He runs his hand through his sandy blonde hair, "Look I shouldn't have gotten so angry at you baby. You know I love you, I never meant to hurt you."
She crosses her arms across her chest, her bruised arm exposed his eyes go wide. A similar look crosses his face that had been on Jack's the previous night. He forcefully grabs her wrist examining the blemish in her otherwise flawless skin. "Did that scumbag do this to you?"
"YOU did that Jason." She tries pulling her arm back but instead he pulls her to his chest, trapping her in his arms. "Let me go Jason."
He smiles, ignoring her words he tries to bury in nose into her hair. To passerby's it looked like a sweet display of public affection. "You deserve better than that loser baby. Come home with me. Its okay that you went slumming, I forgive you."
Holli manages to shove him away although not very far, her fists clenching at her sides. "Jason you better leave. Now! You have no idea the kind of trouble you're getting yourself into. If Jack..."
He puts a finger to her lips to silence her. "I'm not scared of some skinny loser wrestler Holland."
She swats his hand away, her voice taking on a dark edge to it, "You should be."
He looks at her serious for a second before his lips tip in a smirk, "Oh Holli, I know what this is....you're holding out for me to get serious right? You don't actually want to be with this asswipe, you just want me to make a commitment, am I right?"
"What? No! Jason I want you to leave me alone."
He suddenly drops to one knee on the street, people stop to watch and panic rises up in Holli's throat like bile.
"Holland Leah Blue, I know we have had some trouble in the past but you make me want to be a better man. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
The crowd has gotten bigger, she can see the gleams of envy in the eyes of the unmarried female New Yorkers. Then men smirking in amusement. She suddenly couldn't breathe.
"Jason get up," she hisses. "This is absurd!"
His voice is loud. He winks at her and she knows it was his plan the whole time. To cause a scene in public that she'd find hard to get out of without embarrassment. Where she would look like the villain of the lie of a romance story. "I'm not taking any answer but yes. I know I made some mistakes. I want to make it up to you. I will every day for the rest of our lives. I make this promise to you." He reaches into his pocket pulling out a black velvet box. He flips it open revealing an antique ring. "It was my grandmother's. Her dying wish was that I give it to my true love."
More 'awwws' emit from the increasingly large crowd. She knew it was a lie. His Grandmother was in a retirement home in Modesto. Completely bonkers at that. Must be a family aliment.
"No!" She says. Jason's smirk doesn't falter. He finally gets up, moving in close to her. Puts his mouth close to her ear, gripping her upper arms hard. No one in the crowd seems to notice that she's legitimately struggling against him. Most of the men have lost interest and are starting to disperse back to their original destination of the subway entrance. The women look embarrassed.
"You have said No to me for the last time Holli." He pulls back from her face, that rage surfacing again and then disappearing behind a facade of smiles. He looks around before suddenly pulling her into a kiss. For a split second that tiny part of her heart flutters but is gone as quickly as it appeared. She shoves against him.
"Stay away from me Jason, or I promise... Bad things will happen."
He lets her walk away into the subway. He puts the ring box into his pocket. The crowd has already moved along although a few of the women give the good looking, seemingly nice guy a sympathetic look as they move past him. He shrugs sadly and wearing a hang dog expression he walks away, right into an Alleyway where a man stands in the shadows. A billow of smoke flows into the air beside him.
"I did it. Now my payment."
The shadow throws an envelope to the ground at his feet. Jason picks it up greedily counts it.
"And you guarantee that I'll get Holli?" He looks up at the shadow.
The shadow nods. "I'll be in touch."
Jason salutes him before leaving the alleyway, stuffing the cash into his pocket. There is a beep and he pulls out a phone from his pocket. Stepping forward into the light the smiling face of Radek Dayz is revealed. He checks his phone and smirks at the text. The camera catches a grainy image of Holland Blue kissing her ex-boyfriend right before her struggle. He quickly taps some buttons with one hand and with one final tap, he's sent the image to the one man who would be the most interested with a message:
Thought this might interest you quite a bit Old Friend. Bitches just can't trust them huh?
