Carter wasn’t joking when he had mentioned buying a bell and he was certainly getting his monies worth, despite the fact it had only arrived a few hours ago. He had declared himself bed-ridden and wasn’t shy about making demands to Grace. She found herself hiding out in the living room or escaping to the gym when she could. She heard the ringing but opted to ignore it. Carter rang it again.

Still nothing. This time he opted for his old approach.
Carter Hayes: “Graaace!”
Grace got up this time and walked to the bedroom threshold.
Grace Taylor: “Yeah babe?”
Grace had decided to try and be nice; he was in pain after all.
Carter Hayes: “Didn’t you hear the bell?”
Grace Taylor: “I heard it.”
Carter looked puzzled.
Carter Hayes: “Then why didn’t you come?”
Grace Taylor: “Oh, is that what that’s for?”
Carter didn’t pick up her sarcasm. Instead he responded using the voice of a six year old with the flu.
Carter Hayes: “Yeah! Shouting on you hurts my ankle”
Carter reached down towards his injury in an attempt to get some sympathy. Grace didn’t even want to begin to think about how the two were connected so instead decided to let it go.
Grace Taylor: “What do you need?”
Carter grinned, happy to be getting what he wanted.
Carter Hayes: “A chilled bottle of water please.”
Grace turned and headed to the kitchen. She got to the fridge and opened the door. There wasn’t any water there. She shouted through to him.
Grace Taylor: “There’s no water there. We’re out.”

Grace huffed, growing impatient with Carter treating her like his personal slave. She walked back to the bedroom where Carter nodded at her.
Carter Hayes: “I know. You’ll need to go to the store.”
Grace Taylor: “Seriously?”
Grace just stared blankly at her fiancé.
Carter Hayes: “Yeah! I’ve got to keep my fluids up. You know, on account of my injury.”
He reached down to his ankle once again.
Grace rolled her eyes and went to leave.
Carter Hayes: “While you’re out…”
Grace turned back, clearly not Impressed at Carter tactics.
Grace Taylor: “Yes?”
Carter Hayes: “Could you stop by the gym? There’s some mail to be picked up and I’d love it if you could check in on the place, just to make sure everything’s good.”
Grace was actually quite pleased at the request. She figured she’d be able to squeeze in a little time training before having to get back.
Grace Taylor: “Okay. I’ll be as quick as I can. I’ve got some things to do anyway. In the meantime you’ve still got some water there.”
Carter looked concerned.
Carter Hayes: “Like what? What have you got to do? You’re not going to be away all day are you? I really want my water chilled.”
Grace just shook her head in frustration.
Grace Taylor: “No I won’t be long. Just a couple of things to do at the gym.”
Carter just grunted. Thankfully, he wasn’t the type to get injured often. Grace wasn’t sure she could tolerate the crybaby much more often than that. She headed towards the door, put on her coat and shoes, and then realized she had forgotten something so went to the bedroom.
She entered and grabbed her cellphone off the nightstand.
Carter Hayes: “Yeah you best take that in case I need anything else while you’re out.”
Grace rushed back out the bedroom before she responded.
Grace Taylor: “Trust me, the only reason I’m taking this is because I need to call Erik.”
With that Grace got her bag and left.
Carter Hayes: “You’re calling who? Did you say Erik? Grace?”
With the camera still fixated on the door, all that could be heard was Carter shuffling around and then an almighty bang. A few seconds past before there was any sound.

Carter sighed heavily and resigned himself to the fact he’d be stuck on the floor until Grace got home. Perhaps he should have just had the room temperature water after all.
